Details of "Horse Crazy" ALEX

.
This is a picture of my SYDKYD-The Inner Child Doll named "Horse Crazy" ALEX. This is Doll #3, with a 2009 Copyright. This doll has dark brown yarn hair with looped bangs. Her body is off-white muslin and stuffed softly. Her arms are attached loosely to move more freely. Her hands have a defined thumb. The legs are attached with cloth covered buttons. The doll is about 20".

Her face is painted flesh color and part of the upper body is painted to resemble a doll shoulder plate. Her eyes are black wooden square beads. I have left her face very plain so the features can more easily be imagined to resemble one's personal inner child.

I have weighted her body so she is comfortable to hold and hug. The cloth body and yarn hair warm quickly to one's body temperature.

She does not come with shoes or stockings so her purchaser can give the doll these items as a symbol of contact with the inner child. {see Blog Archive for
"Introducing SYDKYDS-The Inner Child Doll" to get titles of Inner Child books to help you find your inner child.}

There is a cloth heart on the doll's chest into which her purchaser can put tiny notes of affirmation and love to the inner child.
.
You can see the hair bow and dress are red/navy gingham decorated with red rick rack. There is a silver metal heart button at the dress neckline. Dress sleeves close with ribbon ties. Velcro closes the back opening which is open to the bottom of the dress.

The pantaloons and slip (which don't show in this picture) are old white cotton purchased at a doll show and decorated with a scalloped white lace. Pantaloon legs tie with ribbon. The slip top is self-lined and closes with tiny buttons and loops of button hole stitching at the shoulders.

The vest is off-white fleece decorated with metal silver buttons and red rick rack.

The clothing are all labled with a 'SYD SAC' label.

I have designed and developed the clothing ideas using different pattern ideas.

In this picture you can also see the doll's wrist tag and SYDSACS Dolls card. The front side of the wrist tag has the dolls name "Horse Crazy" ALEX. The wooden horse is hand painted. The doll's name and coypright date are also hand printed on the back of her right hand.

In the next post I will post pictures of the underclothing, the doll's cloth body, and the SYDKYD cloth label on the dolls back. In a future post, I will show the steps of making the doll.

This doll requires 16 to 20 hours to complete. I have tried to make the doll and clothing quality sewing and interesting details for long time enjoyment by the purchaser. As I stated in 'About Me,' this is not a children's toy doll. The eyes and hair could be pulled free by an exploring child.

I would like to sell these dolls for $100.00. I believe they will become a collector's doll as she becomes more and more well known. It is not often one has a chance to purchase a doll with a low production number.

INTRODUCING...SYDKYDS-The Inner Child Doll

CREATING THESE DOLLS IS THE FRUITION OF A 10 YEAR DREAM

I'm hoping these dolls will help their purchaser become more in tune with the 'child within' (the center of all one's emotions) and help heal emotional wounds from childhood.

Here is a list of the three books I have read to become more in tune with my inner child:

RECOVERY OF YOUR INNER CHILD
by Lucia Capacchione, PH.D

THE INNER CHILD WORKBOOK
by Cathryn L. Taylor, M.A., M.F.C.C.

AFFIRMATIONS for the INNER CHILD
by Rokelle Lerner
(365 daily affirmations to share with one's inner child)
